Western Illinois University and the U.S. Army Garrison Rock Island Arsenal (RIA) entered into a new partnership today (May 23), which will provide academic programs and courses to soldiers and their adult family members, as well as civilian employees.
Rock Island Arsenal officials are staying silent for now on what role the U.S. Army installation may or will play in military readiness or response to Russia s invasion of Ukraine.
4 ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL, Illinois – (July 21, 2021) Command Sgt. Maj. John Dobbins was officially welcomed to U.S. Army Garrison Rock Island Arsenal during an assumption of responsibility ceremony held in Heritage Hall, Building 60, on Rock Island Arsenal, on July 21.
Dobbins assumed his duties as the senior enlisted advisor by receiving the command s colors from Col. Todd Allison, garrison commander, U.S. Army Garrison Rock Island Arsenal.
The garrison colors are the garrison commander’s symbol of authority and represent his responsibilities to the organization; the command sergeant major is the custodian of those colors and the senior enlisted soldier in the garrison command, as well as principal advisor to the garrison commander.
