Lab Supervisor Scott Chovan retires after 34 years with city of Hendersonville

After over 34 years of service to the city of Hendersonville, Scott “Scottie” Chovan officially retired Monday from his post as laboratory supervisor for the Hendersonville Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Chovan was originally hired as the Wastewater Treatment Plant’s operator in responsible charge in 1984. Two years later, he developed the facility’s laboratory procedures in addition to the quality assurance program, which led to state certification of the lab.
He is the “go-to guy when it comes to wastewater biology and technical assistance for municipal laboratories, the city said in a news release, adding, His broad and expansive knowledge base has been a wonderful asset over the years, and he is a central reason for the city of Hendersonville’s excellent lab reputation.
