Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyeva has made a statement to support the implementation of the UN Resolution on “Combating glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to fuelling contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia”.

“The 9th of May, each year, is commemorated as a triumph over Nazi Germany in World War II. In fact, it is the victory for all who suffered from the WWII, Nazism, racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance.
But unfortunately, the world community observes the tendency of glorifying Nazism in Armenia. As such in the capital of Armenia, a monument was erected to fascist executioner and traitor Garegin Ter-Harutyunyan, who served German fascists under the nickname of Garegin Nzhdeh. The former ruling Republican Party of Armenia took steps to perpetuate the memory of such an ambiguous nationalist polit

The Presidium of the Organization of War, Labor and Armed Forces Veterans of Azerbaijan has sent an appeal to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov. Dear Sergey Viktorovich Lavrov, addressing you on the eve of the 76th anniversary of the historic Victory over fascism, we, veterans of the Second World War, expressed our concern over attempts to portray Armenian accomplices of Hitler s Nazism as heroes. That address dealt with the shameless praise of Nazi killers both in Armenia itself and in the information and cultural space of Russia, which pays tributes to the millions of people killed by the Nazis, the Azerbaijani veterans said in the first place.

In modern Armenia, many articles of near-scientific content have been written about Garegin Ter-Harutyunyan (Nzhdeh), telling about the outstanding contribution of an implacable fighter against Bolshevik tyranny, the Turkic threat and forces capable of undermining the integrity and foundations of the Armenian nation from within. The bronze monument erected in Yerevan in 2016 in memory of Ter-Harutyunyan seems to call on the young generation of Armenians to be like Nzhdeh, to follow his ideals and his philosophy. It would seem that he is a patriot who believed in the triumph of the Armenian nation and its spirit - a symbol of the young post-Soviet republic, which has yet to become the center of international Armenians.
