I call my imaginary 40 acres of space my ‘Green Grows the Garden Pharmacy’ so-named by me. I’m convinced everyone should plant a garden and give it a name. I’m also convinced that everyone who has a cat should grow a container of green ‘cat grass’ for their purring friend.

There are many theories about why cats eat grass. (and dogs too) It is wiser to grow cat grass rather than see a cat chewing on houseplants or eating away at some random tufts of grass outdoors. As you can see from the photo, geminated Cat Grass (Dactylis glomerata) greens stand straight and firm. The seedlings are spaced close together in a container that’s not too high, making the greens easy for cats to access and chew on at will. The seedlings tolerate low light both indoors and outdoors in season, but avoid overwatering to prevent damping off. Aim for even-keel watering (
