A man and teen have been arrested in the March 19 shooting death of a popular Ribault High School cheerleader and the wounding of a friend on Portsmouth Avenue, the Jacksonville Sheriff s Office said.
Although Inandi Wyche, 17, wasn t believed to be the target, the shooting was apparently gang retaliation for 20-year-old Daquan Reshai Saxton being killed two days earlier about a half-mile away, according to a newly released arrest warrant.
The arrests come three months after Inandi Wyche s mother, City Council members and law enforcement called for the public s help in finding her killer and announced additional reward money.
Roland Lamar Ball Jr., 21, of Flechette Avenue was arrested Tuesday on charges of second-degree murder, aggravated battery and shooting deadly missiles, according to his arrest report.
