Midlands man who bit Garda on leg gets suspended prison sentence

A Midlands man who bit a garda appeared at Portlaoise district court last week
David Kearney, 35 of Tonduff, Abbeyleix was charged with assault causing harm to Garda Ross O Donovan on February 2, 2020.
Sgt JJ Kirby outlined to the court that on February 2, 2020 gardai attended at the scene of an alleged breach of an order at Tonduff Abbeyleix.
They entered the residence. Mr Kearney was asleep in a bedroom.
The Gardaí were in full uniform. When they entered the bedroom Mr Kearney made a drive at the gardaí and bit Garda O’Donovan on his lower left leg. The bite broke the skin.

Liam Heylin A 43-year-old homeless woman with serious personal challenges has been admitted to the accident and emergency unit of Mercy University Hospital at least 650 times.
Ann Marie Ward was back before Cork District Court today having been arrested on a bench warrant.
Judge Olann Kelleher issued the warrant for her arrest last week when she failed to appear on several charges. They included theft charges, counts for drunkenness and public order offences and charges for failing to appear on other occasions.
