Motorist flees Sugarcreek police at speeds exceeding 100 mph

A motorist eluded Sugarcreek police at speeds over 100 mph on Thursday evening, according to Brian Dalton, the department s assistant chief. He said the driver almost hit the back of a cruiser on Dover Road NW. Police lost sight of the fleeing vehicle on Red Hill Road west of Dover.  Dalton said the motorist started speeding away from the officer in front of Garaway High School shortly after 9 p.m.  The officer tried to stop the suspect after the vehicle passed three vehicles, crossing a double yellow line, Dalton said.  The officer then activated his cruiser s overhead lights. The suspect almost hit the back of a second eastbound Sugarcreek police cruiser on Dover Road near Elm Street. The second officer turned on his lights.
