Two families who were filled with grief when their relatives, Zoleka Gantana and her assistant Kholosa Mpunga, were kidnapped, shot and their bodies chopped up, burned and dumped in a dam in Peddie, are preparing to give bury their relatives.
The families of two women a businesswoman and her assistant who were kidnapped in Ncera village outside East London, and their mutilated bodies found dumped in a dam in Ngqushwa, have pleaded with the authorities to speed up the process for the release of the bodies for burial.
Emotions ran high outside the East London magistrate’s court Monday where three men were accused of the kidnap, murder, and dismembering of two local women.
More than 40 Eastern Cape officials from the department of correctional services have been hauled to disciplinary hearings for allegedly aiding 46 inmates to escape. Five inmates are still at large while the others were rearrested. Spokesperson Nobuntu Gantana said from 2016 to date, there had been 46 escapes in the Eastern Cape region.
