Construction work at the Aquarena for the 2025 Canada Summer Games is taking longer than expected, Memorial University says, and its reopening to the public has been delayed by a full year.
In a year and a half, athletes from across Canada will descend upon the St. John's area for the 2025 Canada Summer Games and while construction of new facilities began just last year, officials say preparations will be completed by game time.
here are 25 projects underway to get different facilities Games-ready, including new beach volleyball courts in Paradise and upgrades to the Aquarena. Karen Sherriffs, CEO of the 2025 Canada Games Host Society, says while there is a laser-like focus on getting everything ready, the goal is to have people benefit from the upgrades and new buildings for decades to come.
