Day one of the memorial day weekend travel rush is in the books, and things did not go entirely smoothly. Like, this accident and massive back up on the bay bridge. It started with this truck on fire on the bridge this morning. It caught fire heading west just before the Treasure Island tunnel, and it took hours to clear and get traffic moving again. The scope of the back up in the east bay was obvious. Our helicopter flew over 80 cars stretching back for miles before all lanes were finally back open around 5 30 this evening. That caused a lot of days. And with today being the busiest travel day of the weekend, there were long lines at at least one bay area airport. This is what passengers were greeted with today at oakland. That line stretched all the way out to baggage claim. If youve flown out of oakland, you know thats not a good sign. But i
