The police in Kano have arrested a 30-yaer-old man, Gambo Yakubu, for allegedly impersonating the captain of the national football team, the Super Eagles, Ahmed Musa.
This was contained in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Haruna Abdullahi, a copy of which was made available to
PUNCH Metro in Kano on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the suspect forged documents bearing the name of Ahmed Musa and defrauded innocent members of the public with the documents.
The statement read in part, “On March 25, 2020, around 11.30pm, a complaint was received from one Musa Muhammad of Hotoro Quarter, Kano, who is the Manager of the Ahmad Musa Sports Centre, Kano, that one Gambo Yakubu, of Brigade Quarter, Kano, a former worker at the said sports centre, was presenting himself as Ahmad Musa and duping people under that pretext.

DSP Abdullahi Haruna, the spokesman for the Command, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.
Haruna explained that the Command on March 25, at about 11:30 pm received a complaint from one Musa Muhammad, the Manager of Ahmed Musa Sports Centre, Kano State.
He said Muhammad reported that the suspect, who was a former worker at the Centre, used to parade himself as Ahmed Musa.
The Spokesman alleged that the suspect forged documents bearing the name of the former Leicester City star and used it to defraud innocent citizens.
“On receiving the complaint, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State, Mr Ahmad, directed a team of detectives led by CSP Abdulkarim Abdullahi to arrest the culprit.
