The luxury hotel draws upon Bauhaus and midcentury themes through a minimalist lens

Thor Equities has introduced ModernHaus SoHo, a new luxury hotel concept in the chic Manhattan neighborhood. Housed within the former James hotel on Grand Street, the 114-room property run by hospitality management company Highgate draws inspiration from the Bauhaus movement with clean lines, geometric harmony, and large windows. An extensive art collection further animates the interior design, which was crafted by design consultant Melissa Bowers and Thor Equities director Jack J. Sitt.

From its skyline-backed rooftop pool to its priceless collection of contemporary art, the recently-debuted ModernHaus Soho is sure to become the hottest destination of the summer.
The property was formerly the James Hotel, which shuttered in the early days of the pandemic. In addition to a design revamp courtesy of Thor Equities Group and interior design consultant Melissa Bowers, the re-launched luxury hotel boasts a brand new greenhouse-inspired eatery, Veranda, helmed by Michelin-starred chef George Mendes in partnership with hospitality veteran David Rabin, along with a second-floor breakfast and cocktail bar.
