Older students headed to class, despite COVID rates (1/27/2021)
Local school districts are moving forward with implementing in-person and hybrid learning, though COVID-transmission rates remain above the mark the state recommends as the cutoff for hybrid learning.
The return to the classroom is taking place at districts from Winona Area Public Schools (WAPS) to the St. Charles School District and at private schools such as Cotter Schools.
At WAPS, students in sixth through eighth grade and students in ninth through 12th grade at Winona Senior High School will resume hybrid learning on January 28. Grades two through four resume in-person learning on a full-time basis today. Students in kindergarten, first grade and fifth grade returned to in-person learning five days a week on January 11. Winona Area Learning Center students resumed hybrid learning on January 11.
