Graduation ceremonies in Etowah County

High school seniors across Etowah County are preparing to celebrate their accomplishments these past four years with their graduation ceremonies in the traditional May time frame after last year s COVID-19 disruptions. Below are the ceremony dates for each high school in the Etowah County, Gadsden City and Attalla City systems, Coosa Christian School, Episcopal Day School and Westbrook Christian School. Etowah County Schools The six schools in Etowah County will have their graduation ceremonies over the course of two days. The school system encourages social distancing between members of the audiences, and each ceremony will have a limited capacity. Clubs offer $1,000 GSCC Cherokee scholarships

Times Staff Report Students from Cherokee County will have two opportunities to earn $1,000 scholarships to Gadsden State Community College’s Cherokee campus, according to a news release from the college.  The Cherokee County Civitan Club is offering a scholarship for the 2021-22 academic year to a qualifying student with a disability. The Women’s Club of Weiss Lake is offering a scholarship to a qualifying female student.  Both may be used toward the cost of tuition, books, fees or other expenses.  For the Civitan scholarship, the student must be registered through the Gadsden State Office of Disability Services and Resources; must be a resident of Cherokee County; must be enrolled at Gadsden State Cherokee with a minimum of 6 credit hours; must have at least a 2.5 GPA; must have completed a high school diploma or GED equivalent; and must satisfactorily demonstrate financial need for the scholarship.
