what is going to give there? what are you seeing? reporter: well, richard, gadhafi doesn t want it to be a standoff. he s trying to retake towns held by the opposition for days. two in particular, one the town of mizrato about 130 miles east of tripoli and the other that is closer to tripoli 30 miles to the west. use using an elite brigade. they have machine guns, tanks, anti-aircraft weapons. they ll been trying to take that town. there was fierce fighting there overnight, but the opposition seems to be holding those places fast. as we know, gadhafi has firm control over tripoli. richard. as we look at that, we go to mick. part of the calculus of the standoff on the ground is this discussion of air power and a no-fly zone, the u.s. and eu discussing that. what s the latest? reporter: pentagon military officials and administration officials are trying to ratchet
