Gunmen yesterday abducted about 26 people along the Kaduna-Kachia road and Kugo village, in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State. While 21 of the victims were, reportedly, kidnaped along the Kaduna-Kachia road, five women were abducted at Kugo village, near Godani Railway Station, Chikun Local Government Area, on their way to the farm. Both incidents occurred Friday.
However, in Borno State, about 246 suspected Boko Haram members, reportedly, laid down their arms and surrendered as part of the current efforts at ceasefire.
The counsellor representing Zonkwa ward in Zango Kataf Local Government Area of the state, Luka Bako, was among those abducted along the Kaduna-Kachia road, but he miraculously escaped.

The Kaduna State Government has confirmed that troops of `Operation Thunder Strike’ have rescued two kidnapped women at Gadanin Gwari in Gwagwada District of Chikun Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
The state government also confirmed the police have rescued two other persons abducted at Kurmin Idon axis of Kaduna-Kachia Road in Kajuru LGA.
This is contained in a statement issued by Samuel Aruwan, the state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, on Saturday.
Mr Aruwan said the troops captured three suspected bandits.

Troops of the Operation Thunder Strike have rescued two women said to have been kidnapped at Gadanin Gwari of Gwagwada district of Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The women were on their farms when the bandits struck and took them away.
However, the State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, said on Saturday that the troops engaged them and forced the bandits to abandon the abductees.
Similarly, Aruwan said operatives attached to the State Police Command rescued two persons abducted at Kurmin Idon along Kaduna-Kachia Road in Kajuru Local Government Area of the state.

Troops under the auspices of Operation Thunder Strike have rescued two kidnapped women, close to Gadanin Gwari, Gwagwada District of Chikun local government area of Kaduna state.
Samuel Aruwan,Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State said on Saturday that the women were suddenly abducted as they made their way to their farm.
“The troops on patrol tracked down the criminals and engaged them in a firefight, forcing them to abandon their captives and run for their lives.”
“After securing the women, the troops pursued the bandits, destroying many bandit camps along the way. The bandits were eventually trapped in Gajina settlement also in Chikun LGA. Three of the kidnappers were apprehended and are now in custody, while the rescued women have returned to their homes.”
