They moved in to clear the streets shortly after the government issued an emergency decree banning all gatherings of more than five people. Lines of police with riot shields quickly drove back the lines of protesters and cleared the area around Government House thousands of people had been camping overnight after another day of widespread protests against the king and the Prime Minister. At least two protest leaders have now been arrested.
