ORLANDO, Fla. - An Orlando family shared their miraculous story of survival with FOX 35, Sunday, after a dangerous crash.
Gabriel Carrero and his two sons, Gabriel Jr. and Jose, were driving their normal route Thursday night on Lee Vista Boulevard when they drove over something. The car went over the sidewalk and into a pond alongside the road.
“When I hit the sidewalk, the car lost control and started jumping,” Carrero said. “In one moment, when I didn’t hear anything, I asked God to just take me, but let them [the kids] survive.”
the investigation is still underway as we speak. reporter: investigators have set up light to help them collect evidence. it s sandwiched between two unmarked silver police cars. the alameda sheriff s department responded to a shooting here at this intersection. investigators say two berkely police officers were trying to pull over a driver in the red mercury. decided to take that suspect into custody. during that time, the suspect backed his vehicle, which pinned the berkely police officer between the suspect vehicle and the unmarked berkely car. reporter: sergeant nelson says the berkely officer suffered serious injuries to his hand and leg while he was pinned between the vehicles. about an hour ago, this woman approached us and told us the suspect is the father of her daughter and identified him as steven moore. he probably didn t know it was the police at fir. he s not a violent person, so i know he did not try to hurt that officer, and i know they should not have
