The Navy confirmed that the sailor was assigned to the Pacific Fleet submarine force. However, they did not release the sailor s identity, military assignment or rank. The incident began before 6 p.m. Saturday when the 40-year-old man barricaded himself in a room at the hotel and communicated with family that he was suicidal, according to the Honolulu Police Department s Criminal Investigative Division.
