WHAT WE LEARNED: Ervin and Scott leave spring with a leg up
It’s hard to make very many drastic takes about Nebraska’s running back position coming out of spring ball, but one thing you can probably say is freshmen

The Red-White Spring Game didn’t even feature to-the-ground tackling until the second half, when most of the projected starters had already called it a day.
So it was hard for
Scott Frost or anyone else to take much away from the performance of Nebraska’s running backs.
However, the fourth-year head coach was still encouraged by the final spring audition for one of the most pressing questions on NU’s roster.
The Husker running backs combined to rush 59 times for 396 yards and three touchdowns between the Red and White teams. But, again, those numbers are qualified because tackles were essentially judgment calls by the officials for the first two quarters.
Did we come away with more optimism about Nebraska’s running backs after the Spring Game?
-Several RBs had impressive runs and games, including Marvin Scott, Sevion Morrison, Gabe Ervin, Jaquez Yant, and others
-So…is there actual depth there or are we going tell ourselves in the Fall that they still don’t have a good RB? Hard to think that after Saturday.

Here are some final takes and thoughts following the 2021 Nebraska Red-White spring game.
As the Husker football team walked off the field for the final time in 2020 in an empty SHI Stadium at Rutgers, there were only four people outside of the NU traveling party that made the trip from Nebraska.
Only family members were allowed at NU home games in Lincoln, while four out of five road games in 2020 also allowed Nebraska parents to attend.
Everything about 2020 was hard to wrap your arms around. Seeing 36,406 in attendance at the Red-White spring game on Saturday was a step in the right direction.
