During India s presidency of the G20, over 1.5 crore citizens participated in various events held across the country, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi s Principal Secretary P K Mishra. The events included awareness rallies, contests, workshops, and cleanliness drives, among others. Mishra highlighted that the G20 was decentralised and held in every state and Union Territory, showcasing India s diversity.
RailTel, the IT solution provider under the railways ministry, invested over 3,600 mandays to establish a telecom infrastructure for the G20 Summit. The infrastructure included over 1,675 indoor antennas, 35 km of radio frequency cable, and 25 km of fiber cables. RailTel also provided cyber security solutions to secure the network infrastructure, including firewall deployment and intrusion prevention systems.
The G20 summit will put a spotlight on India s exceptional craftsmanship through the G20 Crafts Bazaar where the finest handicraft items from various regions of India will be displayed.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar defended the scale of G20 events and criticized the previous governments for limiting their influence. He stated that the current government wants the entire nation to have a sense of participation and ownership of the G20. He emphasized the government s democratic mindset and the importance of the G20 in the changing world. Jaishankar also mentioned that the G20 events have been held in states not ruled by the BJP, making it a nonpartisan effort.
