KURNOOL: No victory rallies will be allowed in Kurnool district on Sunday when results of elections held for eight municipalities and one corporation will be declared.
Announcing this on Saturday, superintendent of police Fakkeerappa said even MPs and MLAs will be barred from entering counting centres while votes are being enumerated. Bursting of crackers too has been banned.
Fourteen killed, 4 injured as mini bus hits lorry in Kurnool district

The incident took place at around 4 am when a group of people hailing from Chittoor district were travelling in the bus towards Hyderabad

Kurnool: In a ghastly road accident on the National Highway No 44 at Madarpur villages near Veldurthi in Kurnool district where a minibus smashed into a lorry, 14 people including a two-year-old infant died on the spot while four others sustained serious injuries. All the dead belong to Ammacheruvu Mitta village near Madanapalle in Chittor district. The minibus coming towards Kurnool hit the lorry going on the opposite direction by jumping the road divider. Kadapa: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Sake Sailajanath said on Wednesday that the Congress party will prove its strength in the local body elections if the poll process is done in a fair manner and no violence is indulged in by the ruling party.
“If the ruling YSRC engages goons in this election, we will resist such actions,” he said and urged the officials to hold the elections in an impartial manner.
