The Lobos got bigger on Sunday.
Sebastian Forsling, a 6-foot-11 prep signee from Gothenburg, Sweden, who has international experience playing for the Swedish junior national team, announced on social media on Sunday morning he would be joining the UNM Lobo men’s basketball team for the upcoming season.
“I am excited to announce that I am committing to the university of New Mexico!” he wrote on his Twitter page. “Many thanks to (past coaches) coach Michael Bree, coach Steve Lowry, coach Chuck Alston! Thanks to Coach Pitino and the whole coaching staff at New Mexico for making my dream come true! Go lobos!”

The Lobo basketball roster grew again on Sunday with the addition of TCU transfer Taryn Todd.
The 6-foot-5 combo guard from Toronto who was a three-star recruit in the Class of 2019 and spent the past two seasons playing for the Big 12’s Horned Frogs announced via social media he was transferring to UNM, becoming the sixth member of the 2021 recruiting class for new Lobos head coach Richard Pitino.

Here are some extra notes, quotes, stats, videos, tweets and whatever else I could empty out of the old notebook after Saturdays’ 77-54 Lobos loss against UNLV in Las Vegas, Nev.:
Sticking with what works?
When you lose by 23 points, odds are good no lineup had much success.
So scouring the stats to find what lineup worked and what lineup up didn’t work might not exactly be a task worthy of much time or effort.
But after Paul Weir said over the past week both after the Utah State loss last Friday in Lubbock and after Wednesday’s win at Dixie State that shortening the lineup and starting to find those mixes of players and chemistry among his players was a priority, I found some things from Saturday’s game a bit confusing.

Here are some extra notes, quotes, tweets, stats and other odds & ends I managed to empty out of the old notebook after Wednesday’s 77-45 Lobos loss to Utah State in a game played in Lubbock, Texas:
Well, shoot
A couple games ago, it was the free throws what some would say is the easiest shot in basketball since there is nobody defending you that the Lobos just couldn’t seem to hit (they went 15-of-35 at the line against Nevada on Dec. 31).
