FWICE wants actors to cut down on staff on set amid COVID-19 surge; to redraft SOPs for artists : Bollywood News

Bollywood Hungama News Network Created: Apr 5, 2021 - 20:01 IST There has been a massive surge in COVID-19 cases in the past month in India especially in the state of Maharashtra. Several Bollywood celebrities have also tested positive for the virus in the past couple weeks when they were shooting for their films.  In the past couple of days, actors like Akshay Kumar, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Govinda, and Bhumi Pednekar also tested positive. Now, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has appealed to units to reduce the number of staff members in film sets. Reportedly, BN Tiwari, president of FWICE has said that actors thought corona had gone and started getting 10 members including bodyguards, managers, make-up people and hairstylists on set with them. They even brought along more than one assistant with them. He also said that they are redrafting the SOPs for the artists and will be mentioning the minimum number of staff that can be on set.

FWICE lifts ban imposed on Gauahar Khan for flouting COVID-19 rules; issues a warning : Bollywood News

); }); The Federation of Western India Cine Employees has decided to take back the ban imposed on actress Gauahar Khan for flouting COVID-19 rules. The decision comes weeks after the ban was imposed on her. Last month, the FWICE had condemned the actress after an FIR was filed by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for flouting quarantine rules on March 15. The BMC alleged that Gauahar had stepped out for shooting despite testing positive for COVID-19. Upon learning this, the FWICE debarred the actress for two months and issued a non-cooperative directive against her. Reportedly the FWICE has now decided to let her off with a warning. Reportedly the organisation warned her that if this incident is repeated the ban will be reinstalled and will not be lifted for a long time.

The fact is, a large section of the film industry is convinced she flouted the Covid-19 guidelines after being tested positive. In a swift action, the Federation of Western India Cinema Employees (FWICE) has decided not to work on any film that features Gauahar Khan. A note signed by Ashoke Pandit, BN Tiwari, Sharad Shelar, Ashok Dubey, Gangeshwar Shrivastav says, “The FWICE highly condemns the act of Ms. Gauahar Khan for resuming shooting after being tested positive for Covid-19 Infection even though she was advised to be quarantined. Her act is highly irresponsible and is against the strict guidelines laid down the Government of India & Maharashtra issued for the Media and Entertainment Industry post resumption of shootings in Maharashtra. It is indeed a serious offence and that she has not only breached the rules issued by the Government but also endangered the lives of the ent
