bipartisan policy on gun reform stands this morning. good morning, and welcome to way too early. on this tuesday, june 2nd. i m jonathan lemire. thursday, june 2nd, i m sorry. still a long week, folks. thursday, june 2nd. thanks for joining us. just over a week since gunfire rang out in uvalde, texas, we begin this morning with another mass shooting in america. and four people are dead, and several others injured after a gunman armed with a rifle and a handgun opened fire inside a hospital in tulsa, oklahoma. the gunman who has not yet been identified apparently also died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound according to police. the chief of police there in tulsa said that officers arrived at saint francis hospital at 4:56 p.m., just minutes after reports of a gunfire were first called in. officers heard shots and made their way to the second floor. where they found the gunman and victims. at a news conference, tulsa s deputy police chief praised the quick response of office

little bit of the negative sentiment that has been flowing through the market for most of august so far. that is the anticipation. that s why you will see there is a bit of bright spots coming through in the numbers right now on the futures board, that s the anticipation anyway. on the earnings front we are seeing some of the retailers being of keen focus, the likes of walmart, target, set to bring up their earnings as well this week. you also have july retail sales set to also be released tomorrow. so a lot of data that really will showcase the sense of how the consumer is doing as well to the u.s. that will be very significant of course for the fed who of course will be looking at that data to see the strength of the economy and the strength of the consumer as they continue their hiking cycle, which may go on pause again. we will keep an eye on that to be sure. it feels like every time we talk about the economy where you are, united kingdom, usually it s bad news, recovering much s
joumanna bercetche who joins us i m happy to say live from london. the futures board, we just took a look at it, it s in the green this morning ahead of new economic data due out in a few hours. give us the lay of the land. yeah, that s right. good news i would say if you re looking at u.s. futures, but this is coming off a new sense of price action yesterday. s&p ending the day a little unchanged. the dow slightly under water, the nasdaq slightly above above 2 percentage points, but the focus has been on a lot of the central banking commentary and a lot of the central bankers there have been sounding a lot more hawkish indicating more rate hikes ahead. also on the tech side there has been a lot of focus on a.i., the chip sector specifically after a report from the wall street journal suggested that the biden administration are considering ways they can restrict further exports out of a.i. chips to china, so that had an impact on the sector. today, however, looking ahead
