Concern had centred on plans to retire the existing SPQs in district nursing, general practice nursing, community children’s nursing, community learning disabilities nursing and community mental health nursing, and replace them with one generic community SPQ.
The NMC has since revised plans and is now proposing to retain the five SPQs but still wants to go ahead with the introduction of a new community SPQ that doesn’t specify the field of practice to accommodate other nursing roles that are not covered by the current SPQs.
