Future Eagle Scout shows Paris residents how to retire U.S flags
Fort Smith Times Record
To become an Eagle Scout, a 15-year-old Paris boy is creating a project designed to teach people how to properly retire an American flag.
Devin Athey, as part of his final project to become an Eagle Scout, has chosen to organize an event at 4 p.m. on Flag Day, June 14, at Eiffel Tower Park in Paris to show people how to retire an American flag.
Athey will also install a flag retirement receptacle, where people can bring old or tattered flags. The Boy Scouts will pick up these flags and properly retire them respectfully for community members.
