caught up in the drama after papers with classified markings were discovered at the indiana home of former president mike pence. let s bring in our panel, wall street journal columnist dan henninger and kim strassel and editorial board member men au quai barua. so kim, first of all, was it the right thing for facebook to do to restore the former president and what impact will it have politically? yeah well on the substance, absolutely, paul, because what we know, at least from the twitter files is that there wasn t many valid reasons for actually getting rid of him in the first place. you have to assume that was the same for facebook. there s also even bigger questions, too, about the wisdom of removing someone that high profile from what is essentially become a public square. politically however, you ve got to wonder if this isn t in a way a gift to democrats. they very much want donald trump to be front and center. now we don t know if he s going to go back to use facebook,
comes after two days of deliberations by the jury. the former us president could face up to four years in prison and a $5,000 fine for each count. here s what he said outside the court right after the verdict. this was a disgrace. this was a rigged trial by a conflicted judge who is corrupt. it is a rigged trial, a disgrace. they wouldn t give us a venue change. we were at 5% or 6% in this district, in this area. this was a rigged, disgraceful trial. the real verdict is going to be november the 5th by the people, and they know what happened here and everybody knows what happened here. we didn t do a thing wrong. i m a very innocent man and it s ok, i m fighting for our country, i m fighting for our constitution. our whole country is being rigged right now, this is being done by the biden administration in order to hurt a political opponent. i think it is a disgrace and we will keep fighting, we will fight to the end and we will win, because our country has gone to hell. we do
think he s mad at somebody showing him where to go. kayleigh: one thing that stood out to me, he s been doing this for a while and antidote about his senate days a young kid got in and said time to make fundraising calls and he lashed out and said get the out of the car. i also found it interesting, jen psaki was cited as saying to the effect that mr. president, i know that i ve accepted the first time that you yell at me and there was a line it did not take long for him to yell at jen psaki. my entire time around president trump, not once did he ever uttered a curse word at me or get angry at me he was a good boss totally opposite. i saw him get angry at people at times but always over something not getting done, never directed at me and always treated me with respect. pete: sean hannity was talking about this and here s what he had to say. when you have the media establishment, she defended clinton, she defended obama, she is hard-core liberal democrat
give him a much bigger profile, and that s right where they would like him going into the next election cycle. manet i guess. do you agree with that about the political impact, but also, donald trump wanted to get back on facebook. and my guess is he wants to get back because he wants to fundraise. those fundraising adds a small dollar donations. he s going to need those. yes i think that s absolutely right. facebook has a much bigger overall audience than twitter. the other platform that allowed donald trump to restore his account within the past couple of months. and that audience in particular skews a little bit more conservative and a little older than twitter s user base. and so i think donald trump knows that he can be putting out fundraising calls on a regular basis, and we get a pretty decent hall there, and that s really what powers donald trump s political machine. he s able to contact so many people from this broad base of fans and get really small donations from them so any
navarro about their roles in the attempt to over turn an election. the american people didn t pay their salaries to do that. now, there are a lot of laws that set out what government officials aren t allowed to do when they are on the clock are using government resources. it s important that taxpayer dollars don t support political activity and there are few bright lines about every specific situation. i can t sit in my office on capitol hill and make fundraising calls. every staff member has to take an ethics training every year to remind them that what s in and out of bounds. i don t mean to make light of it but it just for the record and for those watching at home trying to overturn an election is out of bounds. way out of bounds. yet, mr. scavino and mr. navarro won t talk about the causes of
