But in some situations a new pair of socks is considered “priceless.” Thanks to the Mason County 4-H Federation, 787 clients of the Fulton-Mason Crisis Service (FMCS) will be receiving this priceless gift. Collecting socks for others was the theme for the winter 2020 Mason County 4-H Federation service learning project. The endeavor possessed benefits for the recipients as well as the donors. “This group of teens really enjoys volunteering and doing meaningful projects which lets them feel the benefits of giving,” shared Joli Pierson, Mason County 4-H program coordinator. Research documented by Cone Health, shows giving to those less fortunate than yourself can have long-lasting physical and psychological benefits, and charity can boost both mental and physical health.
