Some are improperly moored, some sunk, some damaged and some are just junk. The floating eyesores can be seen by residents of waterfront properties such as Jupiter Harbour. Motorists see them from Indiantown Road and U.S. 1. Paddleboarders and kayakers float by them as they drift to Fullerton Island, where Jupiter and the county spent about $6 million to turn it into a scenic waterpark.
Complaints increased after Hurricane Irma, a Category 4 storm that packed 85-mph winds, struck Palm Beach County in September 2017.
