believe i would have made it to harvard. so i decided to start a foundation that would support bright children from poor families. reporter: hilda back is a woman who gave chris, the man who just spoke, $15 a month to sponsor his education when he was a young boy in kenya. that small act jennifer arnold couldn t ignore. she s a director, writer and producer of the documentary. he couldn t afford to go to primary school because at that time, even primary school cost money in kenya. he was a top student but because he couldn t afford it he got kicked out. because he was sponsored by this woman hilda beck he could stay in primary school. he did really well. he got to secondary school. he got a scholarship to stay in secondary school or high school if you are an american. went to university of nairobi, which is free in kenya. er to was at his time. now it costs money. he got to harvard and got a fullbright to pay for that. he s doing all this work around the world. his classmates were
he only got caught when he filled out applications for fullbright. he stole $45,000 in financial aid, scholarship money and academic awards from harvard. stanford has since rescinded its offer and it turns out the one school he actually did attend expelled him for academic dishonesty. we ve all said things we shouldn t have. i ve done it a lot. imagine getting caught on an open microphone going verbally viral. another political hopeful is feeling the sting of a hot mike. reporter: a stifled yawn, a make-up touch-up, the usual small talk. bla bla bla. reporter: waiting for the real talk to begin. when republican senate candidate carly fiorina mentioned her opponent. that s when things got hairy. she saw barbara boxer briefly on television this morning and said what everyone says. god, what is that hair?
quote as a matter of fact, i have to say madam secretary, i think the speech given last night by the president represents the most dangerous foreign policy blunder in this country since vietnam if it s carried out. he will resist it. in march of 2008 you said, quote here the term quagmire could apply. what are these, the fullbright hearings? i lived through them and this guy is going back into some last year at marion bad, weird 1970s movie, where you go back into a past that never happened. why is he fighting hagel over vietnam? it s interesting because he s ostensibly fighting with him over iraq. but it immediately becomes about vietnam. it s as how they re talking about. he seems to be mad that hagel took issue with him about iraq and compared it to vietnam being the big blunder which of course mccain and hagel both served in.
