Pamplin Media Group - State wine industry took a hit in 2020, but industry officials optimistic

State wine industry took a hit in 2020, but industry officials optimistic Three-year report shows significant decline in sales, wages and other indices from 2019 to 2020. The three-year period from 2016 to 2019 was a strong one for Oregon s wine industry, a recently released report indicates. The past year, however, saw setbacks in what historically were annual upticks in crop value and sales. The report is conducted by a pair of economic researchers from Economic Forensics and Analytics and Full Glass Research every three years and released by the Oregon Wine Board. It says the state s 1,297 wine grape growers produced a crop valued at $237.8 million in 2019, an increase of 14% over the previous year for the state s top fruit crop. It was only two years ago that the state topped the $200 million mark in wine grape production.
