The announcement from the director of Public Prosecutions follows the recent collapse of several high profile trials, after vital evidence had not been shared with defence lawyers. The Crown Prosecution Service has taken action after public concerns that evidence, particularly digital records, are not being disclosed early enough to defence lawyers. 22 year old liam allen was wrongly accused of rape and Sexual Assault, but his trial collapsed last month after the metropolitan police failed to disclose phone records which were vital evidence.
