Hyundai Motor breaks ground for fuel cell system plant in China
DUBAI, March 11, 2021 Hyundai Motor Group held a virtual groundbreaking ceremony for HTWO Guangzhou, the froup’s first fuel cell system facility outside of Korea. The investment advances the group’s global hydrogen leadership and supports its push into China’s rapidly developing hydrogen industry. Participating in the ceremony were Li Xi, Secretary of Guangdong Province, and Ma Xing Rui, Governor of Guangdong Province both joining from Guangzhou Yuexiu International Congress Center in China along with Euisun Chung, Hyundai Motor Group Chairman, and Saehoon Kim, Hyundai Head of Fuel Cell Center and Executive Vice President both joining from Hyundai Motorstudio Goyang in Korea.

South Korea’s hydrogen market will almost double in size from £9.1bn in 2020 to £17.3bn by 2030, says new report by Intralink.
The international business development consultancy says the growth will largely be driven by investment from big local players such as Hyundai and Doosan, which increasingly see hydrogen as a key growth engine.
Hyundai intents to spent £4.9bn under its Fuel Cell Vision 2030 programme and looks well placed to capitalise on its early-move advantage in fuel cells, both by selling its own vehicles and by licensing its fuel cell systems to OEMs around the world.

The investment advances the group’s global hydrogen leadership and supports its push into China’s rapidly developing hydrogen industry. Attendees at the signing ceremony included Kwang Guk Lee, President and Head of China Operations at the Group; Hyuk Joon Lee, Senior Vice President and Chief Government Affairs Officer of Hyundai Motor Group China; Lin Keqing, Executive Vice Governor of Guangdong Province; Hu Hong, Vice Mayor of Guangzhou Municipal Government; and Chen Yong, District Chief of Huangpu District Guangzhou Municipal Government.
