SRIHARIKOTA (AP), Dec 31: ISRO is set to welcome the new year with the launch of its first X-Ray Polarimeter Satellite that would offer insights into celestial objects like black holes, onboard a Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle rocket on Monday. The launch comes after the success of its Gaganyaan Test Vehicle D1 mission in October.
After the 44.4-meter-tall PSLV rocket lifted off from the first launch pad at 9.10 am on Jan 1, it placed the primary satellite XPoSat into the desired orbit after 21 minutes of flight as intended
The main X-ray Polarimeter Satellite (XPoSat) is intended to investigate the polarisation of intense X-ray sources in space. It is the first dedicated scientific satellite from ISRO stable to carry out such research.
Among the payloads that piggybacked the space agency's ever reliable Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle was one made by women, prompting ISRO to call it an inspiration for the country
