The St. Cloud metro area had 2 drive-in movie theaters. The Cloud Drive-In was located in Waite Park in the approximate area where Parkwood 18 is now. The address was 1531 Division Street in Waite Park.
WJON is taking a look at former St. Cloud movie theaters. I am joined by Steve Penick and John Decker from the Stearns History Museum. The Eastman Theater was located at 21 2nd street south in St. Cloud. It opened in 1940, had seating of 464, it closed in 1967 and was since demolished.
A number of homeless encampments have popped in on various public locations in the city of St. Cloud recently. St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis joined me on WJON to address the issue. A WJON listener expressed concern about an encampment on the east side of the St. Germain bridge in St. Cloud. Mayor Kleis says the city certainly doesn't want any encampments.
