Jerusalem is the eternal capital city of the Jewish people from time immemorial. Psalms 137:5-6 proclaims,
”If I forget thee O Jerusalem, may my right hand forget its skill. May my tongue cling to my palate, if I do not remember you, if I do not bring up Jerusalem at the beginning of my joy.” Jerusalem and Zion are mentioned 821 times in the Jewish Bible and another 3,212 times in the rabbinical literature. Indeed, one can trace Judaism’s history in the City of King David back to antiquity.
