Wessel & Co., a regional certified public accounting and business consulting firm, has announced the following promotions in its audit and tax departments:
⢠Jared Black has been promoted to staff accountant III. Black is a graduate of St. Francis University with a bachelorâs degree in accounting. He joined the firm in 2016 and is a member of the audit department. He focuses on manufacturing and government audits, while also having experience with nonprofit organizations and school district audits. He is an active member of the Manufacturing & Distribution and ACE Niche teams and also a committee member of the activities committee and For-Profit Standards Task Force.
CHARLOTTE HARBOR – Capt. Greg Penix was taking a fishing charter through Turtle Bay in the Charlotte Harbor area when he saw the bobcat sitting in an osprey nest.
Penix took a picture with his cellphone and shared it with a few friends. That was more than eight years ago, but the unexpected sight has been recently circulating on Facebook, after one of those friends, Capt. Scott Moore, shared it on his page.
Moore, who operates Moore Fishing with his son Justin, from both Cortez and Boca Grande, said he last shared his friend’s photo on Facebook a couple of weeks ago, because he found it interesting.

On Inauguration Day no less, Frankie a non-attorney senior adviser for the Boca Raton-based Berman Law Group, evoked his brother’s name in an ad touting the firm. The ad focused on a lawsuit Berman Law Group is leading against a group of Florida cane sugar companies.
According to Frank, “The two Biden brothers have long held a commitment to pushing environmental issues to the forefront; the president-elect has vowed to rejoin the Paris Agreement and wants to set ambitious greenhouse gas reduction targets, for example. My brother is a model for how to go about doing this work….”. And yours too Frankie?
