Len McCluskey has been urged to ditch his apparent heir as the general secretary of the Unite union after he tweeted that Priti Patel should be deported.
Howard Beckett, a close ally of Mr McCluskey and a candidate in the current election to replace him, has been suspended by the Labour Party for the tweet on Thursday night, which he has since acknowledged was “offensive” and deleted.
