Santa and his elves took a trip around Tranent in search of his reindeer – and met some children along the way BEFORE embarking on his Christmas Eve trip to deliver presents to children around the world, Santa and his elves took a practice run in Tranent last week. Last Tuesday and Wednesday, Santa and three of his elves took a trip around every street in the town, completing all 162 streets in a total of six hours. Children were told that Santa’s reindeer had run off and were lost, so him and his elves were trying to find them. No reindeer – and a sleigh that was undergoing maintenance and preparation ahead of Christmas Eve – meant that Santa, also known as Colin McGinn, and his elves Paula Waugh and her two nieces Freya and Eva Knox, made the trip in a car that was decorated with ribbons and balloons instead.
