DIMAPUR Inauguration of aquarium unit on fish germplasm-cum-capacity building programme for farmers of Nagaland on scientific aquaculture was held at Brooder Fish Farm, Dimapur, on Saturday. The programme was organised by ICAR – Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture and Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Government of Nagaland, with Director of ICAR-CIFA, Dr. Pramoda K Sahoo, as the chief guest, a DIPR report stated. The chief guest in his address termed the day as a proud and special one and thanked the team for making the project a reality. The different fish species of Nagaland have great potential to boost the state’s aquatic resources, Sahoo said. Informing that huge number of fish species (about 60 percent) is being imported into the country, he requested the farmers and the stakeholders to pass them to the department instead of consuming them so that they can preserve these species.
