TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 3 Florida State softball team (50-8, 22-2) begins their postseason journey on Friday evening as they will face Marist (29-28) for the first time in program history in the first game of the Tallahassee Regional at 4 p.m. on ESPN+. The second game of the regional will feature South Carolina and UCF at 7 p.m.
The Seminoles will be hosting a regional for the ninth-straight season after putting together their 19th 50+ win season on their way to the ACC Regular Season Championship and the ACC Tournament Championship. The Seminoles are one of the hottest teams in the country as they hold the second-longest active winning streak as they are winners of their last 16. The Seminoles have also won 28 out of their last 30 games.
Florida State NCAA Tournament History The Seminoles are 100-75 all-time in the NCAA Tournament. This will be the 35th time the Seminoles have qualified for the NCAA Tournament. The Seminoles have qualified for 23 consecutive NCA
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Florida State freshman pitcher Makenna Reid was named one of 10 finalists for the 2023 NFCA/TUCCI Freshman of the Year award. The Seminoles have had a finalist for the second consecutive season as Michaela Edenfield was a top 10 finalist last season.
Reid has been phenomenal in the circle all season for the Seminoles. She holds a perfect 12-0 record. In 35 appearances, Reid has a 1.00 ERA and has allowed just 10 earned runs all season while leading the team in strikeouts. In ACC play, Reid posted an ACC best 0.63 ERA in 33.1 innings of work and allowed just three earned runs all season.
Reid was a Second Team All-ACC selection and was also named to the ACC All-Freshmen Team.
Reid and the Seminoles will be back in action tomorrow at 1 p.m. for the ACC Semifinals on ACC Network.
