Freshman Carolina Gomez Alonso was selected as the ITA Central Region Rookie of the Year, announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Tuesday. Gomez Alonso becomes the third Razorback in program history to earn the ITA Regional Rookie of the Year award.
Following Arkansas’ selection to the 2023 NCAA Women’s Tennis Championship, two Razorbacks were selected to compete in the NCAA Singles Championships. Senior Kelly Keller and Freshman Carolina Gomez Alonso each earned an at-large selection for their chance at an individual championship.
Freshman Carolina Gomez-Alonso continues her fall season as she heads to San Diego, Calif. to compete in the ITA Fall National Championships held Nov. 2-6 at the Barnes Tennis Center.
Freshman Carolina Gomez-Alonso wins two matches in the final day of the ITA Central Regional Championships to claim the singles title. She becomes the first Razorback to be named the ITA Central Regional Champion since Anouk Tigu won the championship in 2010.
