Free Omah Lay, Tems WizKid, Davido, Burna Boy, others cry out

Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Don Jazzy Tiwa Savage, and several Nigerian music stars have taken to social media to express their anger over the arrest of Nigerian singers, Stanley Omah Didia aka Omah Lay and Temilade Openiyi professionally known as Tems, in Uganda shortly after a concert.
According to earlier reports, the fast-rising music acts were arrested and charged to court in Uganda for making an appearance at a concert held at Speke Resort, Kampala, on Saturday 12th of December, despite Covid19 social distancing regulations.

Nigerian Artistes Omah Lay, Tems Freed After Three Days In Uganda Police Cell

Nigerian musicians, Stanley Omah Didia, a.k.a Omah Lay, and Temilade Openiyi a.k.a Tems, have been released after three days in the Uganda police cell over violation of the country’s COVID-19 laws.
This was made known by a Ugandan journalist, Canary Mugume, who took to his Twitter handle to announce the release.
He tweeted: “Breaking: Nigerian artists @Omah Lay and @temsbaby have been released 5 minutes ago and might fly out tonight, @Lukowoyesigyire has confirmed. #NBSUpdates @nbstv.”
Nigerian artistes, Omah Lay and Ms Tems will remain in the custody of the Uganda Police Force till Wednesday, December 16.
The police force announced this on Monday via its official Twitter handle.
This was after the fast-rising Nigerian stars were arraigned at a court in Kampala, Uganda’s capital city.
The Uganda police force said earlier plans of releasing them on police bond were suspended after their casefile was sanctioned by the Office of the DPP.

The Nigerian trio of Stanley Omah Didia alias Omah Lay, Temilade Openyi alias Tems and Muyiwa Awomiyi have been charged to court in Makindye on charges of Negligently doing acts likely to spread an infectious diseases C/S 171 of the Penal Code Act.

Tems and Omah Lay were arrested in Uganda for flouting COVID-19 order in the country.
They were charged to court and detained in Uganda prison till Wednesday.
Their arrest has since stirred reactions from the likes of Burna Boy, Davido who asked the Ugandan government to release their colleagues to return to Nigeria.
Burna Boy on his Twitter page wrote: “Uganda, Please we need our people home and safe. Free Tems, OmahLay.”
