Bashir Rostami and his family fled Afghanistan in 2021 after the Taliban took over the country. It wasn’t long after his family ended up in Tampa and he enrolled in a local high school, that somebody noticed his “cauliflower ears,” a sure sign that he had some wrestling experience.
Bethlehem Area Superintendent Joseph Roy announced his plans to retire at the end of the school year.Roy was hired as superintendent in 2010 after serving as an educator for more than 30 years. He was Pennsylvania’s Superintendent of the Year in 2017.
“Black Lives Matter at School is an act of resistance. It’s a refusal to accept the ways that we are perpetually dehumanized. It’s a statement that we exist, that we are here, and that we are going to fight back.”
