Olney, IL, USA / WSEI Freedom 92.9 FM | The Best Country in America Feb 16, 2021 6:49 AM (CHICAGO) The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reported 2,598 new COVID-19 cases on Monday with 32 additional deaths. The new statewide totals show 1,158,431 positive coronavirus cases and now a death toll with 19,873 people that have lost their lives to COVID-19 or related conditions. In Illinois’ latest hospitalization report, as of Sunday night, there were 1,915 people with COVID-19 in statewide hospitals and of those, 437 patients are in Intensive Care Units and 211 other patients are on ventilators. Olney, IL, USA / WSEI Freedom 92.9 FM | The Best Country in America Feb 16, 2021 6:51 AM (SPRINGFIELD) Illinois’ Move Over Task Force has delivered it’s first report detailing its study of the causes of Move Over crashes and violations while also proposing ways to protect law enforcement, emergency responders, and all motorists in the future. The Move Over Law, also known as Scott’s Law, requires drivers to change lanes when approaching stationary emergency vehicles, including all highway maintenance vehicles displaying flashing lights, and any stationary vehicle with their hazard lights activated. The law also states, if changing lanes is not possible or unsafe, drivers are required to proceed with due caution, reduce the speed of the vehicle, and leave a safe distance until they have safely passed the stationary vehicle. Among the recommendations from the Task Force are to change the language in the law from “move over OR slow down” to “move over AND slow down” if a
