DSWD, other anti-child pornography council members lead Safer Internet Day celebration this February

QUEZON CITY, Feb. 9 — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), together with other member-agencies of the Inter-Agency Council Against Child Pornography (ICACP), will lead the celebration of the Safer Internet Day Philippines (SIDPH) on February 13 with a virtual kick-off.

DSWD intensifies program for Safer Internet Day for Children

QUEZON CITY, Jan. 27 (PIA) – Bagong Normal: Ligtas na Internet for All”, is this year’s theme for the online observance of ‘Safer Internet Day for Children Philippines,” which will be held on the second  week of February. The event will highlight promoting understanding among the general public of the current anti-child pornography and child online protection efforts and initiatives being done by the government. Likewise, the Inter-agency Council Against Child Pornography (IACACP) together with the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC), lined up activities for the celebration, which include the presentation of the newly signed Child Online Safe Guarding Policy under RA 10929 or the Free Internet Access in Public Spaces Act.

Senator Sonny Angara The reconciled 2021 budget which Congress has approved is currently awaiting the President’s signature. We have worked diligently to ensure that through this budget, assistance is extended in a timely manner to those who have been affected by calamity, poverty, disease, and homelessness in the past year. We have also funded laws and bills that will have far-reaching impacts on the lives of Filipinos. Some of these measures directly address matters pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic, healthcare, and people’s welfare. One is the Doktor Para Sa Bayan Act, which is awaiting the President’ signature. This measure seeks to produce more healthcare workers around the country through medical scholarships given to qualified and deserving students. It also requires that each region will have at least one state-operated medical school. To this end, the 2021 budget allocates P1.033 billion as a seed fund for the development of medical schools in 12 state universities
