RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - Schools in Rutherford County and across Middle Tennessee are opening next week, and hundreds of teaching positions still need to be filled. Many of those positions are in special education. JC Bowman, with Professional Educators of Tennessee, told WGNS. Again, Bowman highlighted that teacher attrition is still in crisis, and that schools in general must do a better job with teacher recruitment and retention.

Both Rutherford County and Murfreesboro City Schools will open for a half day on Monday, August 7, 2023.
