Baron, who is also a Finance Committee member, said he was “heartened” by the community’s response.
The new Selectboard member said he is ready to “jump right into it,” as Whately’s Annual Town Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 15.
“I better get ready for that,” Baron said. “Beyond that, I need to get up to speed on everything else.”
Baron said he is excited to get into the job and try to help Whately continue to grow.
“I will work hard and figure out how best to move the town forward,” Baron said.

WHATELY Incumbent Frederick Orloski is facing a challenge from newcomer Frederick Baron for a three-year seat on the Selectboard in what is the sole contested race in the June 8 town election. Polls will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Town Hall. Early and mail-in voting options are also available.

Orloski, who was born and raised in Whately, has spent the last 12 years working in town government in various roles and wants to continue working on projects the Selectboard has not gotten to in previous years. If re-elected, the former engineer said he plans to focus on rebuilding the community.
