Second seed Felix Auger-Aliassime held his ground against a stern opening test on Tuesday against Andreas Seppi, rallying from a set down to start his Citi Open campaign with a 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory.
The 19-year-old Canadian was tested across nearly two hours by Seppi, the player who stunned him in the opening round at Roland Garros earlier in the season. Auger-Aliassime earned his revenge with 25 winners, including nine aces, and five service breaks from 12 opportunities.
“To dig deep and to find a way to, I guess, win ugly in a way and come back from really a poor set of tennis in the first, to come back and win it – yeah, it s good that I can also win matches that way,” Auger-Aliassime said. “Not only playing my best tennis and winning in straight sets.”

Canadian and Spanish coach teamed up this week ahead of Monte Carlo
Toni Nadal is back on the ATP Tour with Felix Auger-Aliassime. The No. 22 in the FedEx ATP Ranking, his coach Frederic Fontang and Toni himself made the announcement during a Zoom conversation on Thursday with journalists. “We’re calling you to announce that I’ll be working with Toni Nadal, starting from this tournament [Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters],” revealed the Canadian before answering some questions.
“We had the chance to work also together with him and Fred, and the rest of my team in Mallorca in December. But officially we are starting our relationship and our partnership. So far it’s been going really well,” added Auger-Aliassime, who will be playing his first clay match of the year in Monte-Carlo.

LONDON (Reuters) - Canadian youngster Felix Auger-Aliassime has added Toni Nadal to his coaching team ahead of the European claycourt swing, the 20-year-old confirmed on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters via Zoom, the world number 22 said Nadal, uncle and long-time coach to 13-time French Open champion Rafa Nadal, would start working with him ahead of the Monte Carlo Masters which starts on April 11. I will be working with Toni starting from this tournament, Auger-Aliassime, who is coached by Frederic Fontang, said.
